JOURNEY TO ITALY BY BUS

Traveling to Italy by bus undoubtedly makes sense, the journeys are not very large, you enjoy the views on the road, Tuscany is especially picturesque, there is the opportunity to stay in one of the roadside shops – they are very colorful and picturesque, and purchase a package of colorful pasta or spices that Italy is famous. Our path lay from north to south – from Milan to Rome.

General observations. In Italy, very modest hotels. Three stars is a very poor hotel, a bathroom combined with a floor drain, maybe even a shower over the toilet like on a ship. Do not take this into account the cost-effectiveness of the tour operator, a four-star hotel will jeopardize the economic feasibility of the event, and three stars almost everywhere in Italy are such a decent hotel in a small town, in Rome it will be located at the terminal metro station somewhere near the airport or overlooking the industrial zone. Have to tolerate or fork out for four stars, Italians do not consider it necessary to attract tourists with good service in hotels. There are too many tourists in Italy, they rightly believe. “Breakfast” is also in vain bear this proud name. Typically, breakfast consisted of a croissant and a cup of tea. Or just buns with a tiny bag of jam and a cup of green liquid tea. I lost 5 kg in Italy; the food of a tourist in this European granary is a big problem. Decent restaurants are indecently expensive, you will not find a supermarket in the center of the city at least during the day and with fire, in eateries they give dubious lasagna it is unclear why or pasta and cheese – it’s boring even to pay money for “makfu”. With what joy the first transit breakfast in Austria was welcomed, you cannot imagine.

What wasn’t stressful was the sights. It is pointless to describe everything; I will point out thesis that I especially remember.

Milan is not real Italy, northern, more cosmopolitan, there are a lot of Russians, a magnificent cathedral, an interesting excursion to the La Scala theater. There is no time for shopping.

Assisi is an unexpectedly vivid impression, a huge, as the right name, monastery complex, very majestic, overwhelming, stunning Giotto, a town of the same stone stuck to the monastery, a walk along the streets and buying souvenirs made of local glass is highly recommended.

San Marino – by Italian standards, is not the most interesting place, it attracts with its location on the top of the mountain, bird’s-eye view of the desert surroundings – as in the background, in Leonardo’s paintings, souvenirs: here to buy leather gloves, wallets, bags, Lemoncello. If you don’t buy it, then you will regret it, nowhere else will there be time to calmly choose, in Rome it will be a sin to go shopping.

Florence – no words. Open your mouth and do not close. I advise you to eat tightly, take a drink with you and not take money, no shops and restaurants! Just walk and soak, walk and soak! Visit all that you have time, walk along the famous bridge, wander through the streets, get lost and find yourself. This impression will remain with you forever, give him this chance, do not waste time in vain!

Rome – get your feet ready! The city is huge, even its historical part, mainly pedestrian. I highly recommend the evening tour, which is offered by all operators for an additional fee. This is a real walk in the historic city in the style of “Roman vacation”. The beautiful five squares of Rome are waiting for you, I personally really fell in love with the typical Roman and not very tourist quarter of Trastevere, where I wandered alone, where there are amazing restaurants, a market, fountains. I wanted to stay there forever, in the attic, where clothes are dried on a string, with a curly young chatty Italian.
